Description:

We have an exciting and innovative internship program for students pursuing degrees in a variety of different areas. We're looking for students pursuing degrees in computer science (or closely related areas), who love to problem-solve, code, and design.  If you like working on challenging and intriguing problems in an entrepreneurial environment that respects creative approaches and solutions, a Google internship is for you!

Opportunities within Engineering:

  • Building large scale distributed file systems and other infrastructures to reliably and efficiently manage and process hundreds of terabytes of information
  • Designing and conducting qualitative user studies to gauge the usability of new and existing Google features and making concrete, data-driven recommendations for change based on your findings
  • Designing and improving software that can crawl and index billions of web pages and other documents
  • Using machine-learning techniques to study relationships and associations within existing data (e.g., spelling correction)
  • Using Google's data to keep track of important new info and automatically extract summaries for people who need it (e.g., the automatically generated news summary on news.google.com)
We are now accepting applications for internships that start during the months of April, May, June, and July.

The application deadline is in February.

Opportunities within Engineering:

Google Internships are full-time positions. Start and end dates are flexible with regard to academic schedules, but you'll be expected to commit to at least three months of full-time work. We want to make sure we provide you a valuable learning experience and a deeper understanding of Google's work environment, culture, and delicious food.

Mentoring and Training. All interns receive ongoing mentorship and training throughout their time at Google. You will be assigned an intern "host" who will inspire you, oversee your work, help you identify project goals, and help you develop as a professional. You will also attend various trainings specific to your group bringing you up to speed on all things Google.

Tech Talks and Company Meetings. Working with your host and other members of your group will enable you to learn about the specific work done by your team. The learning does not stop there though. All interns can attend weekly talks given by various Googlers, learning about different products and groups across the company. All interns are also given the opportunity to attend weekly company meetings that are led by our founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. You get the latest news from the leaders of the company, and if you have a question, there's always time for Q&A.

Benefits...beyond the basics. We offer our interns a generous host of benefits as part of our efforts to keep Google a motivating, healthy, and productive place. Services include on-site massage therapy, gym, fitness classes, bike repair, dry cleaning, hair stylist, oil change, and car wash. Google also organizes various company-wide events throughout the year including: a winter ski trip, summer picnic, holiday party, company movie days, health fair, and quarterly group off-sites. Please note that these services and activities vary by location. Regardless of the office, though, you are guaranteed Google swag. Google t-shirts are pretty popular, so we make sure to have some for everyone.

Are you feeling hungry? Check out our free lunch and dinner – our gourmet chefs create a wide variety of healthy and delicious meals every day. They are healthy, yummy, and made with love. Got the munchies? Google also offers snacks and beverages to help satisfy you in between meals. Without a doubt, one of the most difficult choices of your internship will be deciding between the assortment of juices and sodas we have in our micro-kitchens. Our recommendation: try a new one everyday!

Salary and Relocation Assistance. We offer all interns a competitive salary and relocation assistance. We want to make sure your move to Google is a pleasant experience, so we'll give you recommendations on the best places to stay during your internship, and also give you an overview of the surrounding areas.

Intern Social Events. Google's intern team also organizes specific events exclusively for interns. Past events have included a baseball game, hockey game, a night out at the theatre, a bay cruise, bowling, rock-climbing, ice cream socials and much, much more.
