We are currently seeking an Web Content Data Analyst to be responsible for in-depth analysis and subsequent categorization of Web traffic including traffic from Web applications, emerging malware threats, and non-HTTP protocols (e.g., P2P, IM and streaming video). We are a highly dynamic organization with a problem solving focus that recognizes and rewards results. Responsibilities • Study data center logs and network captures to recognize traffic patterns and protocols to understand Web content and traffic • Perform in-depth analysis and subsequent categorization of Web content based on traffic patterns, third-party information (e.g., WHOIS) and actual content • Identify patterns/anomalies in data sets and identify ways to improve the classification • Summarize and share observations with engineering, work with engineers to implement solutions and monitor outcomes • Automate data quality processes Required Skills & Experience • 1+ years university-level training in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or Information Systems or equivalent experience in technical roles in an engineering or QA organization • Experience with Web development or HTML programming • Knowledge of Internet: domain names, Web site structures, common file types and applications • Ability to recognize patterns in data and draw meaningful conclusions from them • Extreme attention to detail in text/numbers • Ability to communicate data findings verbally and in writing • Keen technical problem solving ability • Ability to perform research on data using on-line databases and search engines Qualifications that are a big plus: • Experience using Linux-style text processing tools (regex, grep, sed, awk, Perl, sort etc.) • Knowledge of WHOIS queries, IP Address (IPv4) assignment, allocation, and various Internet registries • Software quality assurance experience • Programming experience (Linux scripting, JavaScript, PHP, Java, C) • Experience using packet sniffers or port scanners
